Preliminary Report submitted for Thiruvananthapuram Metro Rail Project

Thiruvananthapuram, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant stride towards enhancing urban connectivity, the Thiruvananthapuram metro project is gaining momentum, with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) submitting a preliminary report on the detailed project report (DPR) to the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL). The developments were shared in a press note issued by KMRL on Friday, highlighting the collaborative efforts between DMRC and KMRL officials.

The comprehensive DPR, a crucial blueprint for the Thiruvananthapuram metro project, has been submitted by DMRC officials to KMRL. This marks a pivotal step in the project's progression, bringing it closer to realization.

In addition to the report submission, officials from DMRC engaged in a constructive round of discussions with their counterparts at KMRL. Various suggestions provided by DMRC were thoroughly deliberated, laying the foundation for potential enhancements and refinements to the project.

The outcomes of the discussions and the suggestions will be communicated to the State government, facilitating transparency and collaboration. This iterative process ensures that the project aligns with the regional vision and addresses any concerns or considerations from the government's perspective.

Simultaneously, a feasibility study for the second phase of development is currently underway and is anticipated to reach completion within the current month. This critical analysis will contribute valuable insights and data for the subsequent stages of the project.

Following the feasibility study's completion, DMRC is poised to submit the final project report to KMRL. This comprehensive document will encapsulate the refined details, recommendations, and technical specifications of the Thiruvananthapuram metro project.

Once in possession of the final project report, KMRL will forward it to the State government for approval. This crucial step in the process aligns with regulatory requirements and ensures that the project progresses with the necessary endorsements.

The Thiruvananthapuram metro project, modeled after the successful Kochi Metro, envisions enhancing the capital's urban landscape. The initial phases proposed a 27.4 km stretch from Pallipuram Technocity to Pallichal via Karamana-Kaimanam, with a subsequent 14.7 km second phase planned from Killipalam to Kazhakoottam via Technopark, Lulu Mall, Chacka, and Eanchakkal.

As the Thiruvananthapuram metro project advances through these crucial stages, it stands as a testament to the commitment towards modernizing urban transportation and fostering seamless connectivity in the region. The collaborative efforts between DMRC and KMRL underscore the shared vision of creating sustainable and efficient transportation solutions for the capital.
