Manoj Jain takes charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Ltd

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): On June 20, 2024, Manoj Jain assumed the prestigious role of Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a prominent Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). His journey to this esteemed position is marked by a series of notable achievements and roles within the company, reflecting his expertise and dedication to electronics and defense technology.

Before ascending to his current role, Jain served as the Director of Research and Development (R&D) at BEL, starting on September 26, 2022. His leadership capabilities were further recognized when he was entrusted with the additional responsibility of Director of the Bangalore Complex on August 1, 2023. Moreover, he briefly held the position of Director of Human Resources (HR) from November 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023, showcasing his versatile leadership within the organization.

Manoj Jain began his journey with BEL in August 1991 as a Probationary Engineer after graduating with a BE in Electronics from the Regional Engineering College (REC) in Jaipur, now known as Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT). His academic excellence was recognized with a Gold medal, setting the stage for a distinguished career spanning over three decades.

During his early years at the Design and Engineering (D&E) department in BEL’s Kotdwara Unit, Jain played a crucial role in developing Digital Multiplexers, Cross Connects, CDOT Exchanges, and Military Switches. These technologies were pivotal in enhancing communication systems, laying the groundwork for more advanced developments in the field.

In 1999, Jain transitioned to BEL's Central Research Laboratory (CRL) in Bangalore, where he was involved in developing technologies for Defence Networks and Network & Bulk Security Solutions. His expertise in radar technology, one of BEL's core business areas, led to significant advancements, including the development of VeXT, Scan Converter, and Display using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).

From December 2017 to May 2019, Manoj Jain served as the Chief Scientist of CRL-Bangalore, overseeing technological developments across various technical domains. His leadership in this role was instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring BEL's competitive edge in defense technology.

In June 2019, Jain took on the role of General Manager at BEL's Product Development & Innovation Centre (PD&IC). Under his guidance, PD&IC developed numerous new products and sub-systems essential for BEL, significantly contributing to the company's innovation and value-addition initiatives. His efforts in this role were critical in promoting self-reliance within the defense sector.

In June 2021, Jain became the General Manager and Head of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics Strategic Business Unit (SBU) at BEL-Bangalore. In this capacity, he not only managed all business operations of the SBU but also provided the strategic vision necessary for the growth and success of this critical business vertical.

Throughout his career, Manoj Jain has received numerous awards and accolades, including various R&D awards, Key Contributor Awards, Raksha Mantri's Award, and SODET Awards. His contributions to the field of electronics and defense technology are well-documented in the numerous technical papers he has published and the patents he has applied for. Additionally, he has delivered numerous talks to defense users and Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientists, sharing his expertise and insights.
