Ayesa wins E&M DDC Contract of Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Project

Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): Ayesa India has emerged as the lowest bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract aimed at overseeing the electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems for the Phase 1 projects of Bhopal Metro and Indore Metro. This contract, designated as BH-IN-21 by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Limited (MPMRCL), encompasses a comprehensive scope across multiple civil packages, marking a significant milestone in the metro rail development in Madhya Pradesh.

The DDC contract package (BH-IN-21) covers nine underground stations and twenty-four elevated stations spread across various segments:

  • Bhopal Metro: BH-03 (6 elevated stations), BH-04 (2 underground stations) on the Orange Line, and BH-05 (13 elevated stations) on the Blue Line.
  • Indore Metro: IN-04 (5 elevated stations) and IN-05 (7 underground stations) on the Yellow Line.

Ayesa India, as the appointed DDC, will be tasked with producing detailed designs and proposing alternate solutions for electrical and mechanical works, including plumbing, environmental control systems (ECS), tunnel ventilation systems (TVS), SES/CFD simulation, and building automation systems/SCADA systems.

MPMRCL initiated the bidding process in September 2023 with an estimated budget of Rs. 15.07 crore and a contract duration of 4.4 years. Following the submission of technical bids in January 2024, Ayesa India's bid of Rs. 11.89 crore emerged as the lowest, demonstrating competitive pricing and compliance with technical requirements. Competitors such as Tata Consulting Engineers – LEAP JV and Ardanuy India also submitted competitive bids close to Ayesa's figure.

Here are the financial positions of each bidder:-

  • Ayesa India Pvt. Ltd.: ₹11.89 crore (L1)
  • Tata Consulting Engineers – LEAP Infraasys JV: ₹11.95 crore (L2)
  • Ardanuy India Pvt. Ltd.: ₹11.99 crore (L3)
  • SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India): ₹14.92 crore (L4)

With civil construction contracts already awarded for packages BH-03, BH-04, and IN-04, and technical evaluations ongoing for BH-05, MPMRCL is advancing steadily towards the implementation phase. The upcoming focus includes the underground package IN-05 for Indore Metro, with bidding currently in progress and technical bids scheduled for opening in July 2024.

The award of the BH-IN-21 contract to Ayesa India underscores their expertise and capability in delivering crucial metro rail infrastructure projects. The detailed design phase is critical for ensuring seamless integration of E&M systems across the metro network, enhancing operational efficiency and passenger experience.

As Madhya Pradesh prepares to transform its urban mobility landscape with Bhopal and Indore Metro projects, the appointment of Ayesa India as the DDC for E&M systems sets a promising precedent. The forthcoming months will witness pivotal advancements in metro construction, bolstering regional connectivity and economic development.
