SAM India Builtwell bags first ₹222.76 Crore Civil Contract for Delhi Metro Phase V

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to M/s Sam (India) Builtwell Private Limited for Contract EC-01, valued at ₹222.76 crore, for the design and construction of the Yuge Yugeen Bharat underground metro station under Phase-V(A) of the Delhi Metro Transit System.

The contract, including 18 per cent GST, amounts to ₹222,76,50,000.18. The LoA was issued on January 15, 2026, with a stipulated completion period of 21 months from the date of Notice to Proceed. The project will be supervised by PD/Central Vista, DMRC, under file reference DMRC/20/V/001/2025.

The scope of work covers comprehensive civil, architectural and finishing works for the underground station infrastructure. In addition to the main station structure, the contract includes construction of a PD Area ancillary building, associated entry and exit structures for passenger access, and connecting subways to ensure seamless pedestrian movement within the Central Vista precinct.

The Yuge Yugeen Bharat station will be strategically located to serve the redeveloped Central Vista area of New Delhi. Once operational, it is expected to function as a key transport node, improving metro connectivity to major government offices, cultural institutions and public spaces in the zone.

The project forms part of Delhi Metro’s Phase-V(A) expansion programme, which aims to strengthen urban mobility by extending metro services to high-priority redevelopment and administrative areas.

Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said, “The Yuge Yugeen Bharat underground station will play a pivotal role in integrating the redeveloped Central Vista with Delhi’s high-capacity metro network. Such strategically located stations not only enhance accessibility to institutional districts but also reinforce the importance of transit-oriented planning in national capital regions.”

The award of this contract marks another step forward in DMRC’s continued efforts to expand and modernise Delhi’s metro network in alignment with the city’s evolving urban landscape.
