New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Kumar Keshav, Ex-Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRCL) has joined today a prestigious assignment as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting India in New Delhi. Deutsche Bahn (DB) is a world famous German Company with expertise in operation and maintenance of railway projects in different countries across the world.
National Capital Region Transport Corporation or NCRTC has recently signed an agreement with DB India to operate and maintain the 82-km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor for 12 years.
The rail-based transit systems in India are usually being operated by public entities as in the case of various Metros such as Delhi Metro, Lucknow Metro etc. There has been limited participation by the private sector in this sector till now in the Country.
Deutsche Bahn Engineering and Consultancy India Pvt Ltd or DB India is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, National Railway Company of Germany. Engagement of DB as Operator shall pave the path for the transfer of knowledge, best international practices and managerial services available around the globe to the Indian metro and rail O&M industry.
Kumar Keshav with his vast experience of implementing Lucknow and Kanpur Metro in record time shall now lead the DB team in India for efficient and cost effective operation & maintenance of India’s first RRTS corridor from Delhi to Meerut.
After eight years of service, Keshav recently superannuated from the post of Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation on June 30, 2022. For his tireless work, significatnt achievements and unexcelled leadership Kumar Keshav is known as Metroman of Uttar Pradesh.
