Patna, India (Metro Rail Today): In a major development, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has invited bids for the two crucial underground tunneling contracts—PC-05 and PC-06. These contracts play a vital role in Patna Metro's Line-1, connecting Danapur Cantonment to Khemni Chak.
Covering around 8 km of the 30.91 km Patna Metro Phase 1 project, these contracts involve the construction of twin tunnels using tunnel boring machines (TBMs). Each package includes three underground stations and has a 42-month construction deadline, with financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
These contracts mark the last two of six civil construction packages for the entire Patna Metro Phase 1 project to enter the tendering stage.
Notably, a station initially planned at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) near Mithapur is no longer part of the project.
Patna Junction Station is set to be a critical interchange between lines 1 & 2, with Line 2's tunnels already under construction by Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T).
Rukanpura Ramp and Mithapur Ramp will link to ongoing projects, specifically elevated Package PC-04 sections, showing the complexity of collaborations in the construction process.
With PC-05 & PC-06's bid notices unveiled, anticipation builds for the pending tender notice for the project's rolling stock (train) contract.
As Patna Metro achieves this significant milestone, the city moves forward in the realm of advanced public transportation. Watch this space for more updates as we witness the evolution of Patna's metro landscape.
