New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Texmaco Rail & Engineering, emerging as the lowest bidder, has clinched the contract to install ballastless tracks on the Delhi Metro Magenta Line (Line-8) extension, covering the 28.92 km stretch from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram. This development is part of Delhi Metro's Phase 4 project, contributing to the expansion and enhancement of the city's metro network.
The standard gauge rails (1435 mm) from this contract, known as Package DT-08, will be installed on various sections of the Magenta Line extension, including elevated packages DC-01A (Keshopur – Mangolpuri), DC-01 (Mangolpuri – Haiderpur-Badli Mor), DC-03R (Haiderpur-Badli Mor – Derawal Nagar), and inside the twin tunnels of underground package DC-05 (Derawal Nagar – RK Ashram).
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) invited bids for this track-work contract, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in September 2023, featuring a three-year deadline. The financial bids, disclosed on December 13, reveal the following values:
DMRC’s scope for Package DT-08 involves the installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless tracks, including the supply of MSS (Maintenance of Way System) and Buffer stops for Line-8 Extension (Keshopur – Majlis Park – RK Ashram) from Ch. 2814.677m to Ch. 30061.24m.
While the estimate from DMRC is unconfirmed, with speculation suggesting it might be Rs. 112.50 crore, the contract award is anticipated in the coming weeks if this figure holds true. This development is crucial for the smooth execution of the Magenta Line's Phase 4 extension.
Paras Railtech had previously initiated track-work activities in September within the Magenta Line's 2.03 km underground Package DC-06, connecting Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension. However, this section is not included in the scope of DT-08, which covers approximately 92% of the Magenta Line's new route.
Texmaco's successful bid underscores its commitment to contributing to Delhi's metro infrastructure. As the contract is finalized and awarded, Delhi Metro's Magenta Line takes a step closer to completion, reinforcing the city's efforts toward an extensive and efficient metro network.
