Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): The Banaglore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is all set to commence metro trial test run on long-awaited 15.25 km long Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield Metro Corridor from 25th October 2022.
"The trial run on Bengaluru Metro’s Baiyyappanahalli-Whitefield stretch in the Purple Line is expected to begin on October 25. Trial runs will be conducted for at least 45 days, following which we will request for inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety. If everything goes as planned, the line will be thrown open for the public at the beginning of 2023," said BMRCL officials.
Recently, BMRCL issued a public notice on test-charging 33 kV cables running along the metro viaduct between Whitefield and KR Puram. The cable network will be tested from 15th October2022 onwards.
The completed 15.25-km Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield metro stretch will connect 13 stations at Benniganahalli, KR Puram, Saraswati Nagar,Gurudacharpalya, Hoodi Junction,Sitharama Palya, Kundalahalli, Nallurhalli, Sadarmangla, Pattandur Agrahara, Kadugodi, Channasandra and Whitefield.
With 13 stations, Baiyyappanahalli-Whitefield stretch will connect the city’s IT corridor in its eastern parts. Bangalore Metro expects an additional passenger count of 250,000 to 300,000 once the Baiyappanahalli–Whitefield Purple Line opens to the public.
This section is scheduled for commissioning by December this year.
