CEG wins Design Verification Engineering Contract for Bhopal & Indore Metro Rail Projects

Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): In a decisive development, Consulting Engineers Group (CEG) has emerged as the lowest bidder for the Design Verification Engineer (DVE) contract BH-IN-16, a pivotal role in the execution of Indore Metro and Bhopal Metro's Phase 1 projects. The announcement came from Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), marking a crucial step forward in the meticulous planning and execution of these metro initiatives.

As the designated DVE by MPMRCL, CEG assumes the responsibility of scrutinizing and verifying designs across various domains, including architectural, civil, geotechnical, structural, water supply, sewage, and drainage. This comprehensive oversight extends to elevated stations, underground stations, as well as temporary and permanent structures within the specified packages:

  • Bhopal Metro: BH-03 (5.34 km elevated), BH-04 (3.39 km underground), and BH-05 (12.9 km elevated).
  • Indore Metro: IN-04 (5.2 km elevated) and IN-O5 (8.62 km underground).

The consultancy service procurement process commenced in May 2023 when MPMRCL invited bids, projecting an estimate of Rs. 28.71 crores for the contract with a duration of 4 years. Technical bids, unveiled in October 2023, revealed a pool of five bidders. Notably, Egis Rail and STUP Consultants were disqualified during the evaluation phase for not meeting the tender's stipulated requirements.

The financial bids further solidify CEG's position, with a competitive bid of Rs. 16.30 crores, well below MPMRCL's budgeted estimate. This places CEG in a favorable position, poised to secure the contract without protracted financial bid evaluation periods.

The scope of the DVE services encompasses the construction of an Elevated Viaduct, including Stations, Ramps, and Tunnelling works for both the Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Projects. The strategic verification process is instrumental in ensuring structural integrity and adherence to design specifications throughout the project's lifecycle.

While financial bids have been unveiled for three packages (BH-03, BH-04, IN-04), indicating the civil contractor, the technical bid evaluation for BH-05 is currently underway. Simultaneously, bidding is in progress for IN-O5, a crucial underground section connecting Indore Railway Station and Indore Airport through seven underground stations.

CEG's successful bid for the DVE contract underscores its expertise and commitment to the meticulous execution of metro rail projects. As these vital initiatives progress, the timely and precise verification of designs will contribute significantly to the success and longevity of the Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Projects.
