New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a major push to fast-track Delhi’s Metro expansion, the Delhi government has released its share of funds for the remaining three corridors of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro Rail Transit System (MRTS). Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on 18th January 2026 (Sunday) said the projects would significantly enhance metro connectivity across the capital while strengthening Delhi’s public transport backbone.
The Chief Minister said the new corridors will offer safe, convenient and time-efficient travel, reduce dependence on private vehicles, and play a vital role in curbing air pollution. The three corridors are targeted for completion within four years.
Together, the Phase-IV corridors will span 47.225 km at an estimated cost of ₹14,630.80 crore, of which the Delhi government’s contribution stands at ₹3,386.18 crore.
Lajpat Nagar – Saket G-Block:
Length: 8.385 km | Stations: 8 (all elevated)
Inderlok – Indraprastha:
Length: 12.377 km | Stations: 10 (1 elevated, 9 underground)
These two corridors fall under a combined financial framework costing ₹8,399.81 crore, with the Delhi government contributing ₹1,987.86 crore.
Rithala – Kundli (Haryana):
Length: 26.463 km | Stations: 21
Project cost: ₹6,230.99 crore, with ₹1,398.32 crore from Delhi and ₹545.77 crore from Haryana.
Once operational, the corridors will serve key residential, commercial and industrial areas, including Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, Saket, New Delhi Railway Station, Rohini sectors, Bawana Industrial Area, Narela, and Kundli, significantly improving connectivity in north, northwest and south Delhi.
Officials said the tendering process is underway, and preliminary works have already begun on some stretches. The new corridors are expected to ease congestion, save commuter time and encourage greater use of public transport, steering Delhi toward a cleaner and more sustainable urban future.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said: “The release of funds for Delhi Metro Phase IV marks a decisive step in sustaining the capital’s position as a leader in urban mass transit. These corridors will not only decongest critical zones but also reinforce the shift toward low-carbon mobility. Timely funding and execution are crucial, and Delhi’s continued investment in metro infrastructure reflects a long-term vision for inclusive, sustainable urban growth.”
Separately, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has completed the relocation and reconstruction of the Park Street Electric Receiving Sub Station as part of the Central Vista Project, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to key Metro corridors and supporting upcoming infrastructure developments in the city.
With Phase IV steadily moving forward, Delhi Metro continues to remain central to the capital’s mobility transformation.
