MTR–CRRC Consortium wins major contract for Sydney Metro West Project
Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has awarded a ₹201.49 crore contract to DEV–N.ROSE (Joint Venture) for architectural finishing and infrastructure works across seven elevated stations of Mumbai Metro Line 2B, further accelerating the corridor’s readiness for passenger operations.
The contract covers stations along the D.N. Nagar–Mandale corridor, a critical east–west metro link designed to ease congestion and improve connectivity across Mumbai’s suburban and eastern zones.
Under the awarded package, DEV–N.ROSE (JV) will undertake a comprehensive range of architectural and utility works, including:
Interior architectural finishing and fit-outs
Design and construction of external station façades
Water supply and sanitary installations
Drainage and associated infrastructure systems
These works are essential to transform structurally complete stations into fully operational, commuter-ready metro facilities.
The scope spans seven elevated stations, including Iconic Stations ITO, ILFS, MTNL, S.G. Barve Marg, Kurla East, Eastern Express Highway (EEH) and Chembur.
The inclusion of iconic stations reflects MMRDA’s emphasis on creating visually distinctive, modern transit hubs along key metro corridors.
The contract value stands at ₹201,49,23,629.58 (excluding GST) and was finalised at 14% below the estimated cost, indicating strong competition and cost efficiency in the tendering process.
The awarded amount includes all applicable central, state, and local taxes, duties, levies, and incidental charges, excluding GST.
MMRDA has confirmed that the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) will act as the Notice to Proceed, enabling immediate commencement of work. The contractor is required to complete all works within a 15-month execution period, in accordance with the technical and quality standards defined in the tender documents.
As per contractual conditions, DEV–N.ROSE (JV) must submit the performance security within 30 days of receiving the LoA. Until a formal agreement is signed, the LoA will remain legally binding.
Metro Line 2B is a vital component of Mumbai’s expanding metro network, offering a crucial east–west connector that will:
Reduce dependence on road-based travel
Improve suburban-to-eastern corridor connectivity
Support seamless interchange with other metro lines
Timely completion of station infrastructure is essential for aligning with the corridor’s overall commissioning schedule.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said: “Architectural finishing and station infrastructure are where metro projects truly become passenger-centric. The timely execution of these works on Metro Line 2B will significantly enhance commuter comfort, safety, and operational preparedness, reinforcing Mumbai’s journey toward a modern, integrated urban mobility ecosystem.”
