Final U-Girder launched for 7 km priority section of Agra Metro Rail Project

Agra, India (Metro Rail Today): The engineers of Sam India Builtwell Pvt Ltd has launched final U-Girder of 7-km priority section of Agra Metro Rail Project Phase 1 on 13th March 2023. The 27.90 metres long curved U-girder weighs approx. 160 MT.

With this, a total of 196 U-girders have been erected for 7 km priority section connecting Jama Masjid to Taj East Gate, which is part of 14.25 km corridor 1 (Sikandra - Taj East Gate) of Agra Metro Rail Project.

U-Girder is a precast and pre-tensioned structures on which rail tracks can be placed as per the timeline. Therefore, it will further expedite the project and will help in the timely completion of the project. The precast structure will save time in construction while ensuring better quality.

In February 2021, Sam India Builtwell team started pier workand launched the first pier cap in August 2021. The first U-Girder on this priority section was launched in November 2021.

In October 2020, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has awarded a contract worth Rs 272.95 crore to Sam India Builtwell Pvt Ltd for design and construction of elevated viaduct and 3 (three) metro stations (viz. Taj East Gate, Basai & Fatehabad Road) including civil, architectural finished, water supply, fire fighting, fire detection, E&M works and PEB structures on priority section of Agra Metro Rail Project.

Alstom has started delivery of Rolling Stock trains for Agra Metro Rail Project. The first 3-coach train was delivered to UPMRC on 6th March 2023 at PAC depot.

The 7-km priority section of Agra Metro is slotted to open in the first quarter of next year i.e. 2024.
