Five Firms bid for Civil Contract Package AGCC-05 of Agra Metro Line 1

Agra, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Agra Metro Phase 1 project, five prominent firms have submitted bids for the civil construction work of Package AGCC-05 on the 14.25 km Agra Metro Line-1, connecting Taj East Gate to Sikandra. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) recently opened the technical bids, marking a crucial step forward in the ambitious Agra Metro initiative.

Package AGCC-05 encompasses a 3.725 km long elevated section of the Agra Metro Phase 1 project, which spans a total of 29.40 km. This elevated stretch will link RBS Ramp in Khandari to Sikandra, passing through three elevated stations at ISBT, Guru Ka Taal, and Sikandra, strategically positioned along national highway NH-19 (old NH-2).

The following five firms have submitted their bids for the construction contract:

  • Ceigall India Ltd.
  • Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Ltd.
  • HG Infra Engineering Ltd.
  • NCC Ltd.
  • PNC Infratech Ltd.

These contenders will undergo a thorough technical evaluation before the financial bids of the qualified bidders are opened, revealing the lowest bidder and the likely contractor for this critical segment of Agra Metro Line-1.

The scope of the work, as outlined by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL), includes the design and construction of an elevated viaduct and three elevated stations – namely, ISBT, Guru Ka Taal, and Sikandra Metro Station. The comprehensive project involves civil, associated, and ancillary structures, architectural finishes, water supply, sanitary installation, drainage, external development, fire-fighting, fire detection, electromechanical works, and pre-engineered building structures.

The designated stretch for construction spans from chainage (-) 42.96 m to 3682.941 m of Corridor-1 of Agra Metro, situated in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

UPMRC had initiated the bidding process for Package AGCC-05 in November 2023, estimating a project cost of Rs. 296.78 crore with a deadline of 24 months for completion. The bids are currently undergoing technical evaluation, a process expected to take a few months.

Notably absent from the list of bidders is Sam India Builtwell, which recently completed construction work on the line's 2.4 km elevated package AGCC-01 (Taj Mahal Ramp – Taj East Gate). Despite their absence, the Agra Metro project continues to progress, with trial runs underway since July 2023.

As Agra braces for transformative changes in its transportation infrastructure, the selection of the winning bidder for AGCC-05 will play a pivotal role in shaping the city's future connectivity and accessibility.

The competitive bidding landscape for Agra Metro's AGCC-05 construction contract signals a key phase in the realization of Agra Metro Line-1. As technical evaluations unfold, the winning bidder will not only contribute to the city's infrastructure but also play a crucial role in the broader vision of sustainable and efficient transportation in Agra.
