New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): After opening of technical bids of Rolling Stock contract package RS-17 on February 1, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) revealed that the corporation has received a total of five bids from the leading Rolling Stock manufacturers.
The name of bidders are-
Out of five, first four bidders are regular bidders and they have supplied coaches to various metro rail projects in India. However, Metrowagonmash which is a russian rolling stock coaches manufacturer firm has enetred first time in India.
Tender notice for the contract package RS-17 was issued in June 2021 with an estimated cost of Rs 3567.11 crore and a 4.5 years delivery completion period. The procurement plan of Rolling Stock coaches is devided into two parts.
Part A: Design, Manufacture, Supply, Testing, Commissioning, Training of 234 Nos. Standard Gauge Cars for Extended Sections of Line 7 & 8, and
Part B: Design, Manufacture, Supply, Testing, Commissioning, Training of 54 Nos. of Standard Gauge Cars Including Comprehensive Maintenance up to Fifteen Years for These 54 Nos. Standard Gauge Cars for Aerocity – Tughlakabad Corridor of Phase 4 of Delhi Metro Rail Project.
Out of 234 coaches, 90 coaches (15x6 coaches) will be procured for Mukundpur – Maujpur (Pink Line Extension) corridor while 144 coaches (24x6 coaches) will be procured for Janakpuri West – RK Ashram (Magenta Line Extension).
According to tender notice, new trains must be 3.2m wide, lightweight, made of stainless steel, and compliant with standard gauge track system being used by Delhi Metro in their existing lines of Phase 3. They must also be compatible for communications-based train control (CBTC) signaling for Unattended Train Operations (Driverless).
All bids have been sent for technical evaluation and once it is completed financial bids will be opened to reveal the lowest bidder. This contract package is being financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
