GMRL issues ₹1,662 crore Civil Tender for Sector 9–Cyber City Gurugram Metro Rail Corridor

Gurugram, India (Rail & Metro Today): Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has invited bids for a major civil construction package for the Sector 9–Cyber City section of the Gurugram Metro Rail Project Phase-2. Valued at approximately ₹1,662.53 crore, the AC-03 contract covers construction of the main viaduct, 13 elevated metro stations and major double-decker structures at Bajghera Chowk and along the Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road.

The tender is being procured under the Sustainable Multimodal and Resilient Transport for Haryana project and carries a construction period of 30 months.

14.2-km Viaduct and 13 Elevated Stations

Under tender GMRL/PROJ/2026/AC-03, the selected contractor will construct approximately 14.2 km of main viaduct between Sector 9 and Cyber City. The package includes detailed surveys, geotechnical investigations, foundations, piles, pile caps, piers and pier caps, along with erection of precast and structural steel girders.

The viaduct works will involve precast twin U-girders, post-tensioned I-girders, steel I-girders and trusses, including girder launching and erection. The scope also covers deck slabs, bearings, crash barriers, parapets, expansion joints, drainage, earthing, cable ducts and provisions for traction and signalling systems.

The 13 elevated stations included in the package are Sector-7, Sector-4, Sector-5, Ashok Vihar, Sector-3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector-23A, Sector-22, Udyog Vihar Phase-4, Udyog Vihar Phase-5 and Cyber City.

Station construction will include foundations and structural works, platforms and track-supporting structures, staircases, canopies, facades, entry and exit structures, lift shafts, escalator pits and other passenger facilities. The package also includes drainage, water tanks, bore wells, groundwater recharge systems, public toilets, flooring, ceilings, glazing, railings, painting and landscaping.

Double-Decker Metro Structures at Bajghera and Old Delhi Road

A key engineering component of the contract is the construction of double-decker structures at Bajghera Chowk and portions of Old Delhi–Gurgaon Road.

The works will include rail and road viaducts, piles, pile caps, piers, pier caps, bearings, crash barriers, retaining walls and reinforced-earth structures. Road construction and reinstatement, drainage, utility relocation and protection, lighting, cable ducts, MEP systems, safety installations and traffic diversion arrangements will also form part of the contractor’s responsibilities.

Given the heavily developed urban environment, the contractor will have to maintain traffic movement and protect existing utilities and surrounding infrastructure during construction. Surveys, structural monitoring and protective measures will be undertaken for buildings and other structures located near the double-decker works.

Gurugram Metro to Strengthen City Connectivity

The broader Gurugram Metro corridor is planned as a 28.5-km metro project with 27 elevated stations and a depot, connecting Millennium City Centre with Cyber City. The network is intended to improve connectivity between residential areas, commercial districts and major employment hubs across Gurugram.

The Sector 9–Cyber City package represents a significant construction component of this larger network, combining conventional elevated metro infrastructure with complex double-decker structures in congested urban sections.

Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said, “The Sector 9–Cyber City construction package is an important step in strengthening Gurugram’s mass transit infrastructure. The integration of elevated metro viaducts with double-decker structures demonstrates the kind of innovative urban engineering required in rapidly developing cities. Once delivered, the corridor can significantly improve connectivity between Gurugram’s residential, commercial and employment centres.”

Bidding and Construction Timeline

GMRL has scheduled the pre-bid meeting for October 21, 2026, while bid submission will begin on November 9, 2026 and close on November 18, 2026. The bids are scheduled to be opened on November 18.

Eligible private entities, state-owned enterprises and joint ventures can participate subject to the tender’s procurement and qualification requirements. Joint venture members will be jointly and severally responsible for execution of the contract.

With the ₹1,662.53 crore AC-03 tender, GMRL has advanced another major civil works package for the Gurugram Metro. The combination of a 14.2-km viaduct, 13 elevated stations and technically challenging double-decker structures makes the package a major component of the planned metro expansion towards Cyber City.
