New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant move to enhance transportation infrastructure, the Haryana government announced on Monday that the Ballabhgarh metro line will soon be extended to Palwal. The government issued an advisory stating that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this extension has commenced and is expected to be completed within the next six months. The DPR will outline the metro route and provide additional information, including details about the number of pillars, eye guarders, and other essential aspects of the project.
The extension is expected to connect Palwal to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway and the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, further integrating the region's transport network. This long-awaited project comes after years of demands from the local community, who have been seeking better connectivity.
Project Details and Cost
The metro extension will cover a total distance of 24 kilometers, with 10 metro stations along the route. The first station beyond Ballabhgarh will be Sector 58-59, followed by stations at Sikri, Softa, Prithla, Baghaula, Alhapur, and Palwal. The estimated cost for the elevated construction of this extension is ₹4,320 crore, with an investment of approximately ₹180 crore per kilometer.
Local MLA Moolchand Sharma shared that the DPR will be finalized soon, and construction work is expected to begin next year. The expansion is set to boost industrial activities in the region and provide significant relief to the thousands of daily commuters who rely on public transport for their travels to Ballabhgarh.
Boost to Local Economy and Commute
The metro extension is expected to significantly reduce travel time for commuters and provide a more efficient mode of transportation, easing congestion on existing roads. The Haryana government first announced the metro expansion in August 2022 during a speech by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Since then, officials have conducted inspections and assessments of the region to address potential challenges and finalize the expansion strategy.
With the upcoming metro line, commuters from Ballabhgarh to Palwal will have a reliable, time-saving option, marking a major step toward enhancing public transportation infrastructure in Haryana.
