Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): HBL Engineering Limited has secured a major order worth ₹575 crore from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, further strengthening its position in India’s railway safety ecosystem. The contract covers the supply, testing, and commissioning of onboard KAVACH equipment (Version 4.0) and is scheduled to be completed within 12 months.
The contract value of ₹575 crore is inclusive of 18% GST and marks one of the significant recent awards under Indian Railways’ nationwide rollout of advanced train protection systems.
Integral Coach Factory, one of Indian Railways’ premier rolling stock manufacturing units, has awarded this contract as part of its continued efforts to enhance onboard safety features in newly manufactured coaches. The installation of KAVACH Version 4.0, an upgraded iteration of India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, reflects the railways’ growing focus on technology-led accident prevention and operational reliability.
KAVACH is designed to prevent train collisions, ensure safe braking, and improve overall train operation safety. The latest version incorporates enhanced system capabilities and upgraded safety protocols to meet evolving operational requirements.
