J Kumar Infraprojects completes Last Pile for Mumbai Metro Line 9

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): A momentous achievement has been reached in Mumbai's infrastructure development journey as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) proudly announces the completion of the final pile for the Mumbai Metro Line-09 project, extending from Dahisar to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ground in Bhayandar-W (NSCB). This significant milestone underscores the relentless efforts and dedication of all stakeholders involved, marking a pivotal step forward for the city's transit infrastructure.

The successful completion of this last pile signifies the culmination of a rigorous construction process, symbolizing resilience in the face of formidable challenges. A total of 2227 piles, encompassing both stations and viaducts, have been meticulously utilized throughout the project's duration. Commencing with the casting of the first pile on January 14th, 2020, the project has navigated through various hurdles, including the relocation of high-tension (HT) lines, right-of-way (ROW) issues, demolition requirements, and the intricate task of navigating through underground utilities such as HT cables, telecommunications cables, pipelines, and sewer lines.

At its core, the Mumbai Metro Line 9 project seeks to redefine the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), envisioning a future characterized by sustainable growth and enhanced connectivity. By weaving an extensive metro network, the initiative aims to seamlessly connect diverse neighborhoods while fostering safe and comfortable journeys for commuters.

In January 2020, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) entrusted J Kumar Infraprojects with the monumental task of constructing Mumbai Metro Line 9, with a contract value of Rs 1,998 crore. This transformative line encompasses the construction of three double-decker viaducts along Kashmira Road, spanning 1.5 km, 1.1 km, and 754m, designed to accommodate both vehicles and metro trains. Additionally, the project includes the development of seven strategically located stations at Pandurang Wadi, Miragaon, Kashigaon, Sai Baba Nagar, Meditya Nagar, Shaheed Bhaghat Singh Garden, and Subhash Chandra Bose Ground.

Metro Line 9 serves as an extension of Line 7, bridging the gap between Andheri to CSIA and Dahisar to Mira Bhayander, covering a total length of 13.581 km, with 11.386 km elevated and 2.195 km underground segments, encompassing ten stations. This ambitious undertaking aims to enhance interconnectivity among key transportation arteries, including the Western Express Highway, Western Railway, and ongoing Metro Line 2A (Dahisar to D N Nagar) and Metro Line 7 (Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E)). Furthermore, it promises to provide seamless rail-based access to commercial hubs, government institutions, and iconic landmarks across Mumbai, significantly reducing current travel times by up to 75%, contingent upon prevailing road conditions.

As Mumbai's skyline continues to evolve, fueled by transformative infrastructure projects like Metro Line 9, the city stands poised to embrace a future characterized by enhanced mobility, accessibility, and sustainability.

The completion of the last pile for Mumbai Metro Line 9 signifies a watershed moment in Mumbai's transit evolution. As the city continues its journey towards sustainable growth and connectivity, initiatives like Metro Line 9 serve as beacons of progress, heralding a future defined by seamless mobility and enhanced urban living.
