Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for Bangalore Metro's ambitious Phase 2A and 2B projects, KEC International has clinched the title of the lowest bidder for the 66KV power supply contract EPC6-CC. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) announced this week that KEC International secured the bid for the 57 km Blue Line, connecting Silkboard to Bengaluru International Airport via KR Puram. The project encompasses 30 stations along the Outer Ring Road and NH-44, marking a crucial addition to the city's expanding metro network.
The scope of this critical systems contract includes the commissioning construction of a power transformer, three receiving substations (RSS) at K.R. Pura, Yelahanka, and Airport Depot, along with 66kV underground cabling works. BMRCL had initiated the bidding process in November 2023, estimating the project at ₹235.10 crores, with a deadline set for two years.
The financial position of all bidders are as under:-
Despite KEC's bid of ₹248.61 crores being slightly higher (5.74%) than BMRCL's initial estimate of ₹235.10 crores, the contract is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks without negotiations. The detailed scope of KEC's work includes a comprehensive engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning plan for the 66/33kV RSS with 66KV incoming cabling from the grid station for Bangalore Metro Phase 2A & 2B.
This achievement positions KEC International as a key player in Bangalore Metro's expansive plans, reinforcing its commitment to advancing the city's metro infrastructure. As civil construction progresses across five packages, BMRCL's focus is on finalizing system contracts, with Larsen & Toubro securing track-work contracts in June 2023.
In conclusion, KEC International's successful bid for the power supply contract underscores the momentum of Bangalore Metro's Phase 2A and 2B, signaling a significant stride towards enhancing connectivity and transportation infrastructure in the bustling city.
