Goa, India (Metro Rail Today): Kineco Group, a leading diversified Indian conglomerate with a strong presence across sectors such as Railways, Defence, Aerospace, Renewable Energy, and Industrial, has announced the strategic acquisition of Semvac A/S, Denmark. The acquisition, made through its SPV Kineco TrainTech Pvt. Ltd., sees Kineco acquiring a 100% equity stake in Semvac from Wabtec UK Holdings Ltd. in an all-cash transaction.
This move marks a pivotal moment for Kineco’s "Global Rail" brand, positioning the company to tap into Semvac’s established European customer base, while offering the Danish company an entry into India’s rapidly growing rail market.
Founded in 1984 and based in Odense, Denmark, Semvac A/S is renowned for manufacturing cutting-edge sanitation systems exclusively for the railway industry. With a global footprint spanning over 100 projects, Semvac serves major international rail operators and OEMs, including Alstom, Nedtrain, DB, SNCB, and SNCF. The company has installed more than 19,000 vacuum toilet systems worldwide, cementing its reputation as a leader in railway sanitation solutions.
In a statement, Shekhar Sardessai, Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Kineco Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, saying: "We are extremely pleased to finalize the acquisition of Semvac, a trusted global brand in railway sanitation. This acquisition is a significant milestone in our journey, following the launch of our 'Global Rail' brand at the INNOTRANS international rail expo in Berlin in 2022. Kineco has been actively seeking a local presence in the European rail market, and this acquisition aligns with our broader globalization strategy. With Semvac’s 40-year legacy in the industry and its talented team, we are poised to strengthen both our market positioning and competitive edge globally. We look forward to working closely with Semvac’s management to integrate our technologies, products, and manufacturing expertise, creating new opportunities and value for both companies. I extend a warm welcome to the Semvac team as we embark on this exciting new chapter together."
This acquisition further underscores Kineco Group’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the global rail industry, with a focus on delivering innovative and high-quality solutions to the ever-growing rail market.
