New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the project implementing body for RRTS Corridors, has successfully installed the last viaduct span between Duhai to Meerut South station just before Modi Nagar North station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RAPIDX corridor.
The engineers of Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has recorded this milestone on 13th May 2023 by launching the final of 5593 box segments of 15.84 km 15.84 km Package 3 (Lot-1) for 82.15 km Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor in Modinagar. With the installation of this span, about 42-kilometre long viaduct from Sahibabad to Meerut South Station is now ready.
The length of this section from the Duhai near Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) to Meerut South RAPIDX station is about 25 km, in which 825 pillars have been constructed. Along with the construction of viaduct on these completed pillars, track laying work is also being carried out parallelly in this section. About 50 percent track laying work on both the Up and Down line is almost complete. About 50% OHE mast erection and about 30% cantilever erection have also been completed on the completed viaduct.
A total of four stations, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South are being constructed in this section for the convenience of commuters and all are started taking shape.
Slab casting of the concourse and the platform level of Murad Nagar station has been completed and finishing work is going on at the station. Apart from this, the construction of technical equipment rooms in the station have also been completed. Keeping in view the convenience of commuters, entry-exit gates of this station are being provided on both sides of the road, the construction of which is progressing rapidly.
Moreover, along with stairs, 4 lifts and 6 escalators are going to be installed in this station to ensure smooth travel from one level to another. Out of these, the installation of 2 escalators for to and fro movement from the concourse to the platform level has already been completed.
The construction work of both Modi Nagar South and Modi Nagar North stations is also progressing rapidly. At present, slab casting of the concourse level of Modi Nagar South station has been completed and slab casting of the platform level is in the final stage. Simultaneously, the slab casting of the concourse and platform levels of Modi Nagar North station has also been completed.
Meerut South station has four levels, Ground, Mezzanine, Concourse, and Platform level. The slab casting of the mezzanine level of the station has been completed and at present, slab casting of the concourse level and platform level of the station is in the final stages.
Recently, the RAPIDX Corridor crossed the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) over Delhi-Meerut Road at an elevation of about 22 metres in Meerut. NCRTC is going to commission the RAPIDX trains in the Priority Section of the corridor very soon. This section includes Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot stations.
