New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has invited bids for the appointment of a Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for the construction of the Jangpura Stabling Yard and Station Building (Phase-1) for the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat (RRTS) Corridor.
The consultancy contract forms a critical component of NCRTC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational infrastructure for India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail system, which connects Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut.
Tender Notice No.: DM/DD/COR-OF/297
Issue Date: 6 February 2026
Bid Closing Date: 9 March 2026
Earnest Money Deposit (EMD): ₹5,98,200
Pre-Bid Meeting: 17 February 2026
Contract Duration: 36 months
The selected consultant will be responsible for providing comprehensive detailed design services for the construction of the Jangpura Stabling Yard and Station Building (Phase-1) for the Delhi–Meerut RRTS corridor. The scope includes architectural, civil, structural, systems integration, and allied design activities required to support efficient train stabling, maintenance, and station operations.
Stabling yards are critical assets in high-frequency rail systems, enabling efficient fleet management, overnight stabling, inspections, and operational readiness, particularly for corridors designed for rapid turnaround and high reliability.
The Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS corridor spans 82 km and is India’s first operational regional rapid transit system designed for semi-high-speed operations of up to 160 kmph. The corridor features 16 stations, including:
Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul and Modipuram.
At present, a 55 km stretch between New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) and Meerut South (Uttar Pradesh) is operational, offering high-frequency services with trains initially running every 15 minutes, significantly reducing travel time across the National Capital Region.
Commenting on the tender, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said:
“The appointment of a detailed design consultant for the Jangpura Stabling Yard reflects NCRTC’s focus on building robust, future-ready operational infrastructure alongside corridor expansion. Well-planned stabling and depot facilities are essential for maintaining high service reliability, safety, and frequency in regional rapid transit systems like Namo Bharat. Such investments strengthen the backbone of India’s emerging regional mobility ecosystem.”
The Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor is envisioned as a game-changer for regional commuting, offering a safe, fast and sustainable alternative to road-based travel. By combining high speed, high frequency and world-class passenger amenities, the project aims to decongest roads, reduce emissions, and enhance economic integration across the NCR.
The Jangpura Stabling Yard project is expected to play a vital role in supporting expanding operations as additional sections and services are commissioned.
