New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has initiated a key procurement step toward the next phase of India’s Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) expansion. The corporation has invited open e-bids for appointing a Detail Design Consultant (DDC) to support the finalisation of technical parameters for upcoming Namo Bharat corridors across the National Capital Region.
According to the tender published on 21 November 2025, the consultancy engagement will span 210 days and aims to shape the engineering foundations of the two new high-speed regional rail corridors that recently received approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB). The appointment marks an important step in advancing pre-construction and design readiness ahead of the Union Cabinet’s final approval.
NCRTC has issued the Tender Notice No. DA/DD/COR-OF/037, with a bid security (EMD) of ₹10 lakh. Interested bidders can participate in the pre-bid meeting on 1 December 2025, followed by bid submissions from 15 December 2025, closing on 22 December 2025 at 1500 hrs.
A senior NCRTC official said the DDC will play a critical role in harmonising design elements, corridor specifications, system integration strategies, and station-level technical configurations for the upcoming RRTS lines.
The tender comes immediately after the PIB cleared two major Namo Bharat corridors that will significantly expand India’s pioneering regional rapid transit network. Both projects, together estimated at ₹65,000 crore, will now be placed before the Union Cabinet for approval.
The sanctioned corridors include:
▪ Sarai Kale Khan–Bawal RRTS Corridor (93 km, ₹32,000 crore):
Connecting Delhi with Gurgaon, Manesar, Rewari, and Bawal, this corridor is designed to serve key industrial belts along NH-48.
▪ Sarai Kale Khan–Karnal RRTS Corridor (136 km, ₹33,000 crore):
Running north through Sonipat and Panipat to Karnal, the line will link fast-growing urban and educational hubs with central Delhi.
These two new corridors will complement the operational Delhi–Meerut RRTS line, India’s first high-speed regional commuter rail. Currently, a 55-km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South — covering 11 stations — is operational and already demonstrating the benefits of fast, reliable, inter-city mobility.
Urban Infra Group MD & CEO Mrs. Mamta Shah applauded NCRTC’s proactive approach, calling the tender a strategic step toward accelerating India’s regional rail revolution.
“With each new tender, the Namo Bharat ecosystem becomes stronger and more future-ready. The engagement of a specialised Detail Design Consultant reflects NCRTC’s commitment to world-class engineering and seamless network expansion. These new corridors will reshape mobility across NCR and stimulate transformative economic activity for decades.”
Once implemented, the two new RRTS corridors will drastically reduce travel time between Delhi and major cities in Haryana, ease highway congestion, and support transit-oriented development across the region. The design work finalised through this consultancy will serve as the backbone for constructing India’s next-generation regional rail corridors.
