Noida, India (Metro Rail Today): In a major boost to urban connectivity across Noida and Greater Noida, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has officially confirmed the extension of the Aqua Line from Sector 61 to Knowledge Park V, adding 11 new stations to the existing network.
This long-awaited expansion aims to significantly enhance last-mile connectivity, reduce road congestion, and support the growing residential, institutional, and commercial developments across Greater Noida West (Noida Extension).
The 11 proposed stations on the extended route include:
Sector 61 (interchange with existing Aqua Line)
Sector 70
Sector 122
Sector 123
Greater Noida Sector 4
Ecotech 12
Greater Noida Sector 2
Greater Noida Sector 3
Greater Noida Sector 10
Greater Noida Sector 12
Knowledge Park V
The Sector 61 station will serve as an interchange hub, allowing commuters to seamlessly transfer between the existing Aqua Line and the new extension. The line is expected to pass through several densely populated zones and urban villages, providing vital infrastructure support to areas that have witnessed rapid real estate and commercial growth in recent years.
According to NMRC officials, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been finalized and awaits final approvals. The project will follow an elevated corridor model, similar to the current Aqua Line, and will be implemented in phases.
Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO of Urban Infra Group, welcomed the update, saying, “The Aqua Line extension is a transformative leap for the Noida-Greater Noida corridor. With 11 new stations, the project ensures equitable access to fast, sustainable, and affordable mobility. It will reshape commuting patterns and elevate the region’s infrastructure standards.”
Once operational, the extended line is expected to benefit over 1.5 lakh daily commuters, especially students, IT professionals, and residents living in Greater Noida West. It will also alleviate pressure on private transport and contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing vehicular emissions.
The extension will bring Greater Noida West closer to becoming a well-integrated urban node, connected not only to Noida but also to Delhi and Ghaziabad through future metro and RRTS linkages. It is also seen as a step toward Noida's ambition of becoming a model smart city with robust transit-oriented development.
With formal approvals expected soon, groundwork for construction is likely to begin in early 2026, with completion targeted within the next 3–4 years, depending on funding and clearances.
