NMRC to appoint General Consultant for Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Line Metro Expansion

Noida, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant step towards expanding rapid transit connectivity in Noida and Greater Noida, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has invited bids for the appointment of a General Consultant (GC) for the elevated sections of the Aqua Line extension projects. The contract, estimated at ₹75.56 crore, signals steady progress in the long-awaited expansion of the Aqua Line network.

The tender, issued under reference number NMRC\Project\NGNEGC\2026\454, follows a single-stage two-packet bidding process and covers a comprehensive consultancy role over a four-year period. The pre-bid meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2026, while bid submissions will be accepted between May 21 and May 28, 2026, with technical bids opening on the same day.

Comprehensive Consultancy for Metro Expansion

The appointed General Consultant will play a critical role in overseeing the planning and execution of the elevated sections of the Aqua Line extensions. The scope of work includes preparation of preliminary designs, proof-checking of detailed engineering, procurement support, system integration, contract administration, and overall project management.

In addition, the consultant will assist in alignment approvals, construction supervision, and testing and commissioning of the corridors. This integrated consultancy approach is expected to ensure efficient project delivery, adherence to quality standards, and seamless coordination across multiple stakeholders.

Aqua Line Expansion to Cover Key Corridors

The Aqua Line extension is planned to cover approximately 15.13 km across two corridors, significantly enhancing connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida.

The primary extension from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden will span around 12.51 km and include eight stations, creating a crucial interchange with the Delhi Metro network. This link is expected to drastically improve connectivity for daily commuters travelling between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi.

The second corridor, from Depot Station to Boraki Multi-Modal Hub Transport (MHT), will extend about 2.6 km with two stations, strengthening last-mile connectivity and supporting regional transit integration.

Additionally, a proposed corridor from Sector 51 to Char Murti Chowk, covering around 8 km with five stations, is under consideration. This corridor is expected to further expand the network’s reach and improve accessibility in high-growth residential areas.

Boost to Regional Connectivity and Urban Mobility

The Aqua Line expansion is a key component of NCR’s broader urban mobility strategy, aimed at reducing road congestion and promoting sustainable transport solutions. The improved metro connectivity is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters while supporting real estate and economic development along the corridors.

Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO of Urban Infra Group, said, “The appointment of a General Consultant is a critical step in ensuring efficient execution of metro expansion projects. The Aqua Line extension will significantly strengthen connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi, while supporting integrated and sustainable urban mobility in the NCR region.”

Momentum Builds for Future Expansion

The issuance of this tender indicates that NMRC is actively moving forward with its expansion roadmap. With multiple corridors planned and under consideration, the Aqua Line is set to evolve into a more comprehensive transit network catering to the region’s rapidly growing population.

Once completed, the expanded Aqua Line is expected to play a vital role in enhancing commuter convenience, reducing travel time, and reinforcing the role of metro rail as a backbone of urban transportation in the National Capital Region.
