Pune Metro Line 3 achieves remarkable milestone with 4000 Segments Cast

Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): In a testament to its relentless progress, the Pune Metro Line 3 project, connecting the thriving IT hub of Hinjewadi to the bustling central business district of Shivajinagar, has achieved an extraordinary milestone. Today, the casting of the 4000th segment for the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro line was successfully completed. What makes this achievement truly remarkable is the remarkable pace at which it was accomplished: an additional 1000 segments were constructed in a mere 69 days after reaching the 3000th milestone.

To put this feat into perspective, the project's first segment was cast in Hinjewadi on July 23, 2022, and in just 14 months since then, a staggering 4000 segments have been meticulously crafted by the Pune Metro Line 3 development team, affectionately known as 'Puneri Metro.'

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is overseeing the work on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar route as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project. The Tata Group has established Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited as a special-purpose company (SPC) to execute this ambitious project.

"The development team has been working tirelessly at full capacity to ensure the project's completion within the scheduled timeframe, achieving a remarkable milestone by completing 4000 segments in just 400 days (14 months). Impressively, segments constituting 80% of the total piers have been erected within the first year of commencing work, underscoring the remarkable progress made in this endeavor," noted Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited.

Here is a quick overview of the segment casting progress at Pune Metro Line 3:

• 0 to 1000: 285 Days
• 1001 to 2000: 90 Days
• 2001 to 3000: 79 Days
• 3001 to 4000: 69 Days

Pune Metro Line 3 is an elevated Metro rail project spanning approximately 23 kilometers, connecting the IT hub of Hinjawadi to the central business district of Shivajinagar. This Public Private Partnership (PPP) project was awarded by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to a consortium comprising Tata Group's TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The project will be developed and operated on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) basis by a special purpose vehicle (SPV) known as Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL) for a concession period of 35 years, including the construction period.
