Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): Railway consultancy firm Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES) today announced that the company has won the General Engineering Contract package for providing general consultancy services to Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) for implementation of Phase 2 of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project.
The total value of the contract is Rs 92.7 crores. This contract will be executed by the consortium (RITES-Nippon Koei-Aarvee Associates) led by RITES Ltd.
"Setting sights on the victory! RITES has won the bid to become the General Engineering Consultant for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II. Together with its partners, RITES is contributing to India's journey to become future-ready," the company tweeted.
Phase 2 of Ahmedabad Metro covers a total combined network of 28.254 km with 2 corridors. The project was approved by Central Government Cabinet on February 19, 2019, at a total estimated cost of Rs 5384.17 crores. The foundation stone of the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4, 2019.
Phase 2 forms a north extension of Corridor 2 from Motera Station to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The first civil contract package is awarded to Afcons Infrastructure Ltd while the second civil contract package is awarded to Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. Construction work on this corridor commenced in February 2021.
The 22.838 km extension of Corridor 2 will connect Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir with 20 stations at Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Juna Koba, Koba Gam, GNLU, Raysan, Randesan, Dholakuva Circle, Infocity, Sector-1, Sector-10A, Sachivalaya, Akshardham, Juna Sachivalaya, Sector-16, Sector-24 and Mahatma Mandir. All stations will be elevated.
An elevated spur line will also build to connect Gujarat National Law University – Gujarat International Finance Tec-City and cover a total distance of 5.416 km.
Tender notice for the selection of General Engineering Consultant for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, Phase-II was issued in June 2021 with 36 months deadline.
