Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Chennai Metro Phase 2 project, six firms have submitted bids for the ventilation and air conditioning (VAC), tunnel ventilation system (TVS), electrical, and SCADA contract of Line 4. This marks a crucial step forward in the expansion of Chennai's metro network, with Line-4 set to connect Light House to Poonamallee Bypass through a 26.09 km stretch, encompassing 30 stations.
Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) opened technical bids for the C4-VAC&TVS-12 contract, which covers essential system works at 8 of the 10 underground stations along Line-4. The underground section, spanning 10 km with twin tunnels connecting Power House Ramp to Light House Station, is a pivotal component of the 116.1 km Chennai Metro Phase 2 project.
The following six firms are vying for the prestigious contract:
CMRL's comprehensive scope for the C4-VAC&TVS-12 contract involves:
This scope pertains specifically to eight (08) underground stations in Corridor-4 (C4) from Light House to Kodambakkam Station. Additionally, it includes C4-related TVS SCADA works at Thirumayilai Station and integrated station management systems (ISMS) at OCC and BOCC.
The bids are currently undergoing technical bid evaluation, a process that typically takes a few months. Following this evaluation, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to determine the lowest bidder and the likely contractor for this crucial systems contract.
While Line-4's progress is advancing, it's worth noting that the construction of Thirumayilai Station, an interchange of lines 3 & 4, has been awarded to RVNL in June 2023. Consequently, the VAC & TVS work for Thirumayilai Station is anticipated to be part of Line-3's system works.
The active participation of renowned firms and the progression of bids indicate the strategic importance of these vital systems in the successful implementation of Chennai Metro Line-4.
