Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): On August 25, 2024, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) announced the launching of bids for the construction of four elevated stations under the Pune Metro Phase 1A extension project. This phase extends the Purple Line by 4.519 kilometers, connecting Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi’s Bhakti Shakti.
Details of the Construction Contract
The new package, designated as P1A-C-02, is the second construction contract for the Pune Metro Phase 1 Extension (Phase 1A). It encompasses the construction of four elevated stations: Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, and Bhakti Shakti. These stations will be situated along the eastern service road of Old Mumbai Road.
Contract Specifications
The initial contract for the Pune Metro Phase 1A, focusing on the viaduct work, was awarded to Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) in March 2024, with construction commencing in June 2024.
Project Design and Consultancy
The design of the four new stations was completed by LKT Engineering, which was awarded a Rs. 1.11 crore contract for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) services in December 2023. This design work is critical for ensuring that the stations meet both functional and aesthetic standards for the metro line.
In related developments, bidding is also underway for a similar DDC contract for 13 new elevated stations on the Aqua Line.
