New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Delhi Metro Phase 4 project, three prominent firms—SC Agarwal, Pee Pee Mandal Projects, and Texmaco Rail and Engineering—have submitted bids to undertake track work at the existing Sarita Vihar Depot. This contract, known as Package DT-16, is a crucial component of Delhi Metro's strategic plan to enhance maintenance facilities for the upcoming Silver Line.
The Sarita Vihar Depot, currently part of the Violet Line (Line-6), is set for repurposing to accommodate and maintain thirteen 6-coach Alstom trains for the new 23.6 km Silver Line. The Silver Line will connect Aerocity to Tughlakabad through 16 stations. The specific scope of Package DT-16 includes the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless/ballasted track in the Sarita Vihar depot to augment additional maintenance facilities for the Standard Gauge Corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-IV.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) initiated the bidding process in September 2023, estimating the contract at Rs 9.44 crore with a 540-day work completion deadline. The three bids are currently undergoing a thorough technical evaluation, a process that typically takes a couple of months to complete. Once this technical evaluation concludes, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened, revealing the lowest bidder who is likely to secure the contract.
The track work at Sarita Vihar Depot is one part of the comprehensive augmentation plan for both Sarita Vihar and Ajronda Depots. The following is a snapshot of the contractors and consultants involved in various aspects of this augmentation:
The competitive bidding process for the track work at Sarita Vihar Depot underscores the commitment and interest of industry players in contributing to the expansion and improvement of Delhi's metro infrastructure. As the technical evaluation progresses, the selected contractor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely and efficient completion of this critical aspect of the Delhi Metro Silver Line's development.
