Two firms win feasibility study contract for MRTS projects in Salem, Trichy & Tirunelveli

Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has recently opened financial bids for conducting a feasibility study and preparation of the report for the proposed Mass Rapid Transit Systems (MRTS) projects in Salem, Tiruchirappalli & Tirunelveli cities of Tamilnadu.

As per the result of the financial bid, Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants and Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd emerged as the lowest bidders. Here are project-wise financial positions:-

Salem MRTS Project

• Aarvee Associates: Rs 38.29 crore (L1)
• L&T Infrastructure Engineering: Rs 53.60 crore (L2)
• RITES Ltd: Rs 65.40 crore (L3)

Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) MRTS Project

• Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd: Rs 37.40 crore (L1)
• Aarvee Associates: Rs 39.38 crore (L2)
• L&T Infrastructure Engineering: Rs 50.56 crore (L3)
• RINA Consulting SpA: Rs 56.78 crore (L4)

Tirunelveli MRTS Project

• Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd: Rs 35.42 crore (L1)
• Balaji Railroad Systems Ltd: Rs 54.89 crore (L2)

Now all bids have been sent for technical evaluation. The selected consultants have to -

• collect and examine available reports of previous studies, plans, CMP reports and others related to the transportation scenario
• collect primary transport network inventory data along with utilities within the Project Influence Area.
• collect all the secondary information such as development plans, and public transport routes.
• conduct a review of the current situation in order to establish the existing condition and capacity of the public transport system.

RFP Notice for the above work was issued in February 2022 with a 122 days deadline and technical bids were opened in April 2022.
