New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has completed Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of two Herrenknecht make Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) S-710 and S-1134 this week.
According to plan, both refurbished Ø6.63m diameter Tunnel Boring Machines along with two other machines (Robins 367 & 373) will be deployed on Delhi Metro's Phase 4 for the construction of 7.46 km twin tunnels between Derawal Nagar and RK Ashram Marg under Contract Package DC-05. This section is part of 28.92 km Magenta Line extension (Janakpuri West – RK Ashram) of Delhi Metro Rail Project Phase 4.
The other two Robbins make tunnel boring machines (367 and 373) have altready passed their factory acceptance tests in December 2022.
In January 2022, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) had awarded a contract worth Rs 2,481.50 crore to Afcons Infrastruture Ltd for design & construction of Twin Tunnels by shield TBM, Tunnel by Cut & Cover, Underground ramp at Derawal Nagar and Six underground stations viz. Derawal Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, Pulbangash, Sadar Bazar, Nabi Karim & Ramakrishna Ashram Marg Including Architectural Finishing, Water supply, Sanitary installation, Drainage works of stations on Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram Corridor (Line-8 Extn.) of Delhi Metro Phase-IV.
The 28.92 km extension of Magenta Line (Line 8) of Delhi Metro Phase 4 will connect Janakpuri West to Ram Krishna Ashram Marg (Blue Line) with 22 metro stations at Krishna Park Extn, Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi, Mangol Puri, West Enclave, Pushpanjali, Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar, North Pitampura, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa, Majlis Park, Azadpur & Ashok Vihar, Derawal Nagar, Rajpura, GG Sabji Mandi, Pulbangash, Sadar Bazar, Nabi Karim and RK Ashram Marg. Out of, 21.18 km sections will be elevated and the remaining 7.74 km sections will be underground.
