Lucknow, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh government on 22nd February 2023 presented budget for financial year 2023-24 in the state assembly. A total of Rs 2,456 crore allocated for Delhi-Meerut RRTS and other metro rail projects in the state. The budget was presented by State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna.
“A budget arrangement of Rs 585 crore is proposed for the Kanpur Metro Rail Project in the financial year 2023-2024. A budget arrangement of Rs 465 crore is proposed for the Agra Metro Rail Project,” said Suresh Khanna during the Budget 2023 presentation in the state assembly.
"The construction work on Delhi-Ghaziabad Meerut RRTS Corridor is underway. “In the financial year 2023-2024, a provision of Rs 1,306 crore proposed for it. Provision of Rs 100 core proposed for the implementation of Metro Rail project in Varanasi, Gorakhpur & other cities,” he added.
Project-wise Allocation
"Uttar Pradesh Government allocates Rs 1,306 crore for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor in the state budget 2023, presented today. Earlier this month, the Government of India allocated Rs 3596 crores to the RRTS project in the Union Budget 2023," stated National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
The 17 km long Priority Section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad- Meerut corridor is going to be operationalized this year and NCRTC aims to open the entire corridor by 2025.
At present, NCRTC is carrying out train testing in the Priority Section to test various components of the RRTS. The 17 km long priority section of the corridor has five stations, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot. The construction of these stations is in the advanced stages and soon they will be ready for operations.
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is carrying out construction on Agra and Kanpur Metro Phase 1 at full pace.
