New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced major progress in its ongoing Phase 4 expansion, with approximately 70% of construction completed on several critical metro corridors connecting Chhatarpur Mandir, IGNOU, Kishangarh, and Vasant Kunj. The announcement underscores DMRC’s continued commitment to enhancing public transportation infrastructure in Delhi.
Among the key updates, DMRC confirmed that a 4.6-kilometre stretch between Majlis Park and Jagatpur Village is close to completion. This section includes three upcoming metro stations Burari, Jharoda Majra and Jagatpur Village.
Trial runs on this route commenced in December 2024, and the segment is expected to open to the public once all statutory approvals and safety certifications are obtained.
Significant construction milestones were also achieved on the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor, where three major tunnel breakthroughs have been successfully completed over the past two months. This corridor is a vital link in Phase 4, aimed at improving connectivity in South Delhi and adjoining areas.
Earlier this year, on January 5, 2025, the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension—the first operational section of Phase 4—was inaugurated, marking a key milestone in the project. On the same day, the foundation stone for the Rithala–Kundli corridor was laid, further signaling DMRC’s intent to expand Delhi’s metro reach into neighboring regions.
With over 112 kilometres of new metro lines under development as part of Phase 4, DMRC is poised to significantly boost last-mile connectivity and reduce traffic congestion across the National Capital Region. Once completed, the expansion will serve millions of commuters, making daily travel faster, safer, and more efficient.
