Lucknow, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has issued two major civil contract orders worth Rs 2,907.46 crores to the joint venture of Afcons Infrastructure Limited and SAM India Builtwell Private Limited for the construction of underground tunnels and stations for Kanpur and Agra Metro Rail projects on March 14, 2022.
Work Order Value: Rs 1,819.79 crore (INR 1773,27,00,000 + EURO 52,54,554)
The scope of work under this contract package includes Design and Construction of 7.93 km Underground Tunnel from start of underground ramp (near Fatehabad Road Metro station) to end of ramp after RBS college Metro station including seven underground metro stations (viz. Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, S.N. Medical college, Agra college, Raja ki Mandi and RBS college) including Architectural finishes, E&M, TVS, ECS etc. on Corridor-1 of Agra Metro Rail Project.
Tender notice for contract package AGCC-02 of Agra Metro was issued in August 2021 with a 36 month deadline and estimated value of work of Rs 2,200 crores. Technical bids were opened in November 2021. A total of seven bids were received by the UPMRC and financial position of each bidder is as under:-
This contract will be financed by European Investment Bank (EIB) through through a 480 million euros ODA loan signed with UPMRC.
The 14.25 km long Corridor 1 of Agra Metro will connect Sikandra to Taj East Gate with 14 stations. The 7-km priority section of this corridor is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2024.

The scope of work under this contract package includes Design and construction of 4.65 km TBM tunnel, cut and cover tunnel, underground ramp from Kanpur Central end of Nayaganj station to elevated ramp after Transport Nagar and three underground metro stations (viz. Kanpur Central, Jhakarkatti and Transport Nagar) including architectural finishes, E and M, TVS, ECS etc. on Corridor-1 of Kanpur Metro Rail Project.

This contract will be financed by European Investment Bank (EIB) through through a 650 million euros ODA loan signed with UPMRC.
The 23.785 km long Corridor 1 of Kanpur Metro will connect IIT Kanpur to Naubasta with 22 stations. The 8.7-km priority section of this corridor is currently operational.
