New Delhi, India: The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) has announced the onboarding of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) as a Corporate Member, further strengthening the Chamber’s mission to build a unified and future-ready platform for India’s railway and mobility sector.
Headquartered in Kolkata, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited is among India’s leading railway rolling stock manufacturers and shipbuilders, with a strong reputation for manufacturing excellence, innovation and global expansion. The company is publicly listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), reflecting its established market position and strong governance practices.
Titagarh Rail Systems traces its roots back to the 1980s, when it began operations as a railway foundry focused on manufacturing critical railway castings including bogies and couplers for Indian Railways.
The company achieved a major milestone in 1997 with the production of its first railway freight wagon, laying the foundation for its transformation into one of India’s most prominent rail manufacturing companies.
Its global growth accelerated significantly in 2015 through the acquisition of Titagarh Firema SpA, enabling the company to expand its passenger rolling stock capabilities and strengthen its international footprint.
Today, TRSL operates across multiple segments of rail mobility including freight wagons, passenger coaches, metro rolling stock, propulsion systems and advanced mobility solutions.
Titagarh Rail Systems continues to play an important role in India’s railway modernisation journey through several strategic partnerships and long-term industrial initiatives.
Among its key initiatives is the consortium with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the manufacture and maintenance of 80 Vande Bharat trainsets, along with the development of supporting maintenance infrastructure for Indian Railways.
The company is also working in partnership with Ramkrishna Forgings Limited to manufacture and supply forged wheels under the Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat initiative, supporting long-term localisation of critical railway components under a 20-year supply programme.
In addition, TRSL has continued investing in collaborative ventures focused on design, research, propulsion technologies and transit innovation, reinforcing its contribution toward India’s evolving mobility ecosystem.
Welcoming Titagarh Rail Systems Limited to the Chamber, Dr. Vinod Shah, Director General, Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber), said:
