Agra, India (Metro Rail Today): Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has been granted permission to operate the metro in Agra. Soon, metro services will commence on the priority corridor route in Agra, covering a distance of six kilometers. The officials of UPMRC are delighted with this development.
Metro services will operate between six stations on Agra's priority corridor route. Three of these stations—Taj East Gate, Basai, and Fatehabad Road—will be elevated, while the next three stations—Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Manakameshwar—will be underground. Construction of the rapid metro is progressing swiftly on the balance section in Agra, with a total of 29.4 kilometers to be constructed across two corridors.
Metro Rail Security Commissioner Janak Kumar Garg has approved this development. He conducted an inspection of the six-kilometer metro track on Agra's priority corridor from February 21 to February 23. On Monday, he granted permission for metro operations. Sushil Kumar, the Managing Director of UP Metro, expressed joy at receiving approval for metro operations. He stated that metro services in Agra would commence as per the schedule.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has awarded platinum ratings to all three elevated stations of Agra Metro—Taj East Gate, Basai, and Fatehabad Road. This recognition as a green metro is a significant achievement in the certification for environmental management. Earlier this month, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) had granted ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for safety management certification to the Taj East Gate to RBS College metro station segment of the first corridor.
