Patna, India (Metro Rail Today): In an exciting development, the Akashvani Metro station within the Patna Metro Rail Project is set to revolutionize pedestrian transit. Situated in the bustling Frazer Road district, this underground station boasts a length of 235 meters and a track depth of 16 meters from the ground level. Functioning as a part of Corridor-II, the station will introduce a convenient Metro Subway for pedestrians and commuters to seamlessly traverse from one side of Frazer Road to the other, without needing to enter the paid Metro area.
The strategic positioning of the Akashvani station is poised to enhance the daily commute for passengers residing in and around areas such as Frazer Road, S.P. Verma Road, Exhibitions Road, Gandhi Maidan, Duk Bungalow, Patna Station, Station Road, and Maurya Lok. Moreover, it will extend its connectivity to key establishments, commercial edifices, and malls in the Frazer Road vicinity, including the LIC Building, BSEB office, Hindi Bhawan (DM office), All India Radio station, Patna Central Mall, Fazal Imam Complex, and Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir.
This two-level station is structured with the concourse situated at minus one (-1) level, while the platform rests at minus two (-2) level. The concourse is thoughtfully equipped with passenger-centric amenities like ticket counters, public conveniences such as toilets, and security checkpoints. Recognizing its role as a bustling hub, the station will provide additional facilities such as air-conditioned metro coaches and an air-conditioned station. A total of five escalators, four lifts, and four staircases are seamlessly integrated to ensure smooth passenger movement.
With three entry/exit gates strategically placed, the Akashvani Station is perfectly poised for accessibility:
1. Entry/Exit Gate-1: Near LIC building
2. Entry/Exit Gate-2: At the entrance of Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir & All India Radio station
3. Entry/Exit Gate-3: Close to Patna Central Mall and facing Fazal Imam Complex
An innovative and invaluable addition is the subway facility for pedestrians. Given its strategic location on Frazer Road and Dak Bungalow area – one of the city's most bustling commercial and non-commercial hubs – a subway connection is proposed. This design allows pedestrians to traverse from one side of Frazer Road to the other through the station's interconnected Entry/Exit doors. This concept bridges the gap between convenience and efficient urban transit.
As safety is paramount, the station has meticulous emergency evacuation plans in place. Five fire escapes have been strategically integrated to ensure passengers and emergency personnel can evacuate platforms effectively during unforeseen circumstances.
The Akashvani Underground Metro Station stands not only as a hub of connectivity but as a pioneering example of thoughtful urban infrastructure, promising a transformative impact on Patna's commuting landscape.
