Sricity, India (Metro Rail Today): French multinational and Rolling Stock & systems leader Alstom Transport has commenced manufacturing of metro cars (Rolling Stock coaches) for Pune Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi - Shivajinagar) at their Sricity facility centre, Andhra Pradesh.
"We are thrilled to announce expansion of our footprint in the city of Pune as we start manufacturing Metropolis trainsets for the upcoming #PuneMetro Line 3, at our SriCity site. Here are a few snapshots of the ceremony as we kick off the production at the site," said Alstom.
Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer, Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd ha flagged off the production of Rolling Stock coaches for Pune Metro Line 3 at Alstom's Sricity facility centre on 3rd March 2023.
Alstom will supply 66 metro cars to the joint venture (JV) between Tata Group firm TRIL Urban Transport and Siemens Project Ventures for the Pune metro project. The JV had awarded a contract worth Rs 693 crore to Alstom for manufacturing and supply of 22 metro trainsets for Pune Metro Line 3 project in 2021.
The Tata Group has formed Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (Puneri Metro) as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company to oversee the Pune Metro Line 3 project. The circular shape of the Pune Metro Line 3 piers with a diameter of 2000 mm is unique in nature. These piers are being built in accordance with the metro rail system’s design parameters.
The 23.3 kilometres Line 3 of Pune Metro Rail Project will be completely elevated. This line will connect Civil Court to Megapolis in Hinawadi with 23 stations at Megapolis Circle, Embassy Quadron Business Park, Dohler, Infosys Phase II, Wipro Phase II, Pall India, Shivaji Chowk, Hinjewadi, Wakad Chowk, Balewadi Stadium, NICMAR, Ram Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon, Baner, Krushi Anusadhan, Sakal Nagar, University, R.B.I., Agriculture College, Shivaji Nagar and Civil Court.
This line will also be integrated with Line 1 & 2.
