Dr. Arunish Chawla takes charge as Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation

Patna, India (Metro Rail Today): 1992-batch senior IAS officer and Additional chief secretary of planning and development department, Arunish Chawla, has taken additional charge of new Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRC) in the first week of March 2023. He will now work as Additional Chief Secretary in Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD).

Chawla inspected the ongoing work of underground Patna Metro Rail Project being implemented by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC), at Moinul Haq Stadium on 25th March 2023 first time after taking charge of Managing Dircetor of PMRC. He assessed the progress of work of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM, nicknamed 'Mahaveer') at Moinul Haq Stadium.

The first of the four Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) “Mahaveer” was lowered at Moin Ul Haq in the tunnel shaft from where the tunnel work will start for underground metro station.

Project Director, DMRC, Ajay Kumar updated and briefed Chawla on the progress of the Patna Metro's ongoing construction work.

In addition to the ongoing construction and progress of the underground Metro Station at Moinul Haq Stadium, he also enquired about the future work execution plan and the progress of work on other sites.  He also directed the officials to expediate the constructions work of the metro.   

Managing Director of BUIDCO, Dharmendra Singh and Addition Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department, Sunil Kumar Yadav, IAS and Senior Officials of DMRC were also present during the inspection.

The 14.05 km Corridor 2 of Patna Metro will connect Patna Railway Junction to New Inter State Bus Terminal with 12 stations at Patna Junction (interchange with Corridor 1), Akashvani (formerly Dak Bungalow), Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin Ul Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakri, Khemni Chak (interchange), Bhoothnath, Zero Mile and New ISBT. Out of, 6 kilometres section with 5 stations will be elavated and remaining 8 kilometres with 7 stations will be underground.
