Navi Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has issued an e-tender notice inviting bids for providing preventive and corrective maintenance along with intermediate overhauling (IOH) for the rolling stock and depot equipment of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1.
The tender, issued under Notice No. NM1-O&M-25/2026, was released on 6 March 2026 and covers a five-year contract period beginning from 1 November 2026.
The contract aims to ensure the long-term reliability, safety, and operational efficiency of trains and depot infrastructure serving Navi Mumbai’s first operational metro corridor.
The selected contractor will be responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities as well as intermediate overhauling of rolling stock and depot equipment used on the Navi Mumbai Metro system.
These activities are essential for maintaining the performance and safety standards of metro trains, while ensuring smooth daily operations and minimising service disruptions.
The scope also includes the upkeep of key depot equipment required for train inspection, maintenance, and operational readiness.
According to the tender notice, the bid document fee is ₹35,400 (inclusive of GST) and is non-refundable. The bid security amount is ₹7.71 lakh, although Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) may receive exemptions in accordance with General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on 18 March 2026 at 11:00 hrs via video conference, allowing prospective bidders to seek clarifications regarding the scope and technical requirements of the contract.
The bid submission window will open on 13 April 2026 at 11:00 hrs and close on 20 April 2026 at 16:00 hrs, while the technical bids will be opened on 21 April 2026 after 16:30 hrs.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said that structured long-term maintenance contracts are essential for ensuring the reliability of urban rail systems.
“Preventive maintenance and periodic overhauling of rolling stock are critical to maintaining safety, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort in metro networks. As Indian cities expand their metro systems, robust maintenance frameworks will be key to ensuring consistent service quality and long-term asset sustainability,” she said.
She added that effective maintenance strategies also help extend the lifecycle of metro assets while reducing operational disruptions in rapidly growing urban transit systems.
Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is currently the first operational metro corridor in Navi Mumbai, running between CBD Belapur and Pendhar.
The line spans approximately 11.1 kilometres and includes 11 stations, providing an important urban transit option for commuters in the rapidly growing satellite city of Mumbai.
The corridor forms part of the broader Navi Mumbai Metro network, which is expected to expand further in the coming years to improve regional mobility and reduce road congestion.
