From Paper to Platform: How Mumbai Metro’s Digital Ticketing Is Redefining Urban Mobility?
Nagpur, India (Metro Rail Today): In another bid, BNC Power Projects Ltd. has been declared lowest bidder (L1) for the electrification contract package TR-03 for the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project, marking a significant milestone in the city’s transportation expansion. The announcement was made by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (Maha Metro) today.
The contract package TR-03 involves the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of receiving and auxiliary main traction sub stations. Additionally, it encompasses the establishment of a 33 kV cable network and a SCADA system.
Maha-Metro called for bids for this contract in February 2024, with an estimated project cost of ₹344 crore and a completion deadline of 180 weeks (approximately 3.5 years). Financial bids were opened in August 2024, with BNC Power Projects submitting a bid of ₹388.91 crore but offering a discounted price of ₹381 crore. Although this bid is 10.72% higher than the initial estimate, it is still competitive enough for potential contract negotiations.
The swift progress in the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project underscores the government's commitment to enhancing urban mobility in Nagpur. With KEC International and BNC Power Projects at the helm of the electrification phase, stakeholders anticipate significant improvements in infrastructure efficiency and service delivery.
Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. has already evaluated four system-related packages for Phase 2, with other notable contracts awarded to Colossus Infra and Rahee Infratech.
As the project moves forward, the timely execution of these electrification contracts will be critical to meeting the operational timelines and overall success of the Nagpur Metro expansion, ultimately contributing to a sustainable urban transit solution for the city.
