Cengrs begins Geotechnical Work for DPR of Ghaziabad – Jewar Airport Rapid Rail Corridor

Ghaziabad, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant step forward for the Ghaziabad – Jewar Airport Rapid Rail Corridor, Cengrs Geotechnica has commenced geotechnical soil investigation work. This pivotal project, spanning approximately 72 km and connecting Ghaziabad to Jewar Airport, is set to redefine regional rapid transit in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh state government recently finalized the route for this ambitious Rapid Rail Corridor in December 2023, comprising 12 elevated stations traversing Greater Noida West, Surajpur, and Pari Chowk. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) promptly initiated the creation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to propel the project into its next phase.

On January 1, 2024, Cengrs secured the geotechnical investigation contract for this groundbreaking project, emphasizing its commitment to advancing critical infrastructure. With a scope encompassing 75 boreholes at depths ranging from 20 to 60 meters along the line's route, Cengrs will play a pivotal role in gathering essential data.

The geotechnical investigation serves a dual purpose: firstly, aiding in determining the optimal alignment for construction efficiency, and secondly, contributing to the formulation of comprehensive civil construction tender documents. This data will empower infrastructure companies to make well-informed financial bids and employ suitable machinery, methods, and technology during the construction phase.

The project's scope, as defined by NCRTC, outlines geotechnical investigation works integral to the preparation of the DPR for RRTS connectivity from Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

The proposed 72 km semi-high-speed line, featuring 12 elevated stations, will link the existing Ghaziabad RRTS Station at its northern terminal, a component of the broader 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS line. The southern terminal will be situated at Jewar International Airport, a development led by Flughafen Zürich AG and under construction by Tata Projects Ltd (TPL).

As the geotechnical investigation progresses, a first draft of the DPR is expected to materialize by April 2024. This crucial document will provide comprehensive insights into the line's exact route, station locations, depot details, and ridership projections. Following a meticulous process of inspection, stakeholder feedback, revision, finalization, and approvals, the project will enter subsequent phases of execution.

The initiation of geotechnical work marks a significant stride towards realizing a modern, efficient, and seamlessly connected regional transit system, underscoring the commitment to transformative transportation solutions in Uttar Pradesh.
