Jakarta, Indonesia (Metro Rail Today): In a significant step toward transforming Southeast Asia’s rail infrastructure, DB E.C.O. Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI). This collaboration underscores both organizations’ shared commitment to advancing sustainable, innovative rail solutions across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The MoU was officially signed by Milind Nirmal, Executive Director for the APAC region at DB E.C.O. Group, and Marvin Windolf, Senior Sales and Market Development Consultant. The agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on modernizing Indonesia’s railway sector and enhancing its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
The collaboration will include the development of a comprehensive ESG roadmap for KAI, the implementation of advanced digital technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Twin, and the optimization of transit-oriented development (TOD) strategies. These innovations aim to significantly improve operational efficiency, reduce noise pollution, and minimize carbon emissions across Indonesia’s rail network.
Additionally, DB E.C.O. Group and KAI will explore opportunities for joint consultancy and training programs, aimed at building local capacity and driving long-term sustainability within Indonesia’s transportation sector.
