DBL launches final segment of package IN-02A of Indore Metro Rail Project

Indore, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant milestone for the development of the Indore Metro's Yellow Line, Dilip Buildcon Ltd (DBL) has announced the launch of the final precast segment for Package IN-02A. This segment marks the completion of a crucial phase in the construction of the metro line, spanning 5.29 kilometers and connecting the ISBT Metro Station to Mumtaj Bag Colony Station.

Package IN-02A represents the inaugural civil package of the ambitious 33-kilometer Phase 1 project of the Indore Metro. Designed to create a ring line encompassing Palasia, Railway Station, Rajwara, Airport, and Bhawarsala with a network of 30 stations, this project holds immense promise for enhancing urban connectivity and easing commuter traffic in the city. Construction of the elevated viaduct for IN-02A commenced in 2020, comprising a total of 179 spans.

All 1871 precast segments, each measuring 8.5 meters in width, were cast at DBL's casting yard situated along the Super Corridor. Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) had entrusted Dilip Buildcon with the contract for Package IN-02A, valued at ₹228.96 crore, in October 2018. However, despite the initial 27-month construction deadline, the project has encountered delays, with construction now running 66 months behind schedule.

URC Constructions, a sub-contractor of RVNL, is currently engaged in the construction of eight stations along this section, including ISBT/MR 10 Flyover, Chandragupta Square, Hira Nagar, Bapat Square, Meghdoot Garden, Vijay Nagar Square, Radisson Square, and Mumtaj Bag Colony.

In March, DBL achieved another milestone by launching four 36-meter-long steel composite girders over the Western Railways' tracks in the MR-10 neighborhood. Additionally, URC Construction completed the casting of the final segment for Package IN-03 (ISBT – Gandhi Nagar) in March, indicating that its launch is imminent within the next 2-4 months.

As the Indore Metro project progresses, stakeholders and commuters eagerly anticipate the enhanced connectivity and convenience it promises to bring to the city. Despite the challenges posed by delays, the dedication and efforts of all involved parties remain steadfast in ensuring the timely completion and success of this transformative infrastructure endeavor.
