New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a bid to revolutionize intra-city transportation, Indian Railways is gearing up to unveil its newest innovation, the Vande Metro. Following the remarkable success of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains, this ambitious project aims to redefine urban commuting. A senior official closely involved with the initiative revealed to the media that preparations are in full swing to commence trial runs of the Vande Metro by July 2024, to swiftly make its services accessible to the public.
The Vande Metro is poised to boast a plethora of cutting-edge features tailored to cater to the evolving needs of city dwellers. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, it will exhibit remarkable acceleration and deceleration capabilities, facilitating swift travel between multiple stops within the city. "Our goal is to introduce the Vande Metro within this year. Trials are slated to commence in the coming months," stated the official.
In addition to automatic doors and enhanced comfort, the Vande Metro will incorporate several innovative elements absent in existing metro trains. Detailed information, accompanied by visuals, showcasing these unique attributes will be disseminated to the public imminently.
According to reports, the Vande Metro will feature a distinctive coach configuration, with four coaches constituting one unit. A minimum of 12 coaches will comprise a single Vande Metro, providing flexibility in adapting to varying demands along different routes.
Initially, the Railways will debut the Vande Metro with a minimum of 12 coaches, with provisions for expansion of up to 16 coaches based on route demand. "The decision on the inaugural city for the Vande Metro is currently under consideration," affirmed the official.
In conclusion, the impending launch of the Vande Metro heralds a significant leap forward in urban transportation infrastructure, promising enhanced convenience and efficiency for commuters across Indian cities.
