DRA Infracon-led JV wins ₹792 crore civil contract for Chennai Metro Phase 2

Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has opened financial/price bids for underground civil contract package UG-01/RT-01 (Madhavaram to Perambur) of Phase 2 Corridors of Chennai Metro Rail Project on 1st May 2023 in Chennai.

As per the financial bids opening results, the consortium of Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Private Limited and Soma Construction emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction of 5 underground metro stations of Corridor 3 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2.

The revised tender notice for the above contract package UG-01/RT-01 was issued in December 2021 with 4.25 year completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in March 2023.

The financial positions of each bidder is as under:-

  • DRA Infracon-Soma JV: Rs 792.00 crore (L1)
  • Tata Projects Ltd: Rs 807.00 crore (L2)
  • Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd: Rs 809.74 crore (L3)
  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd: Rs 854.97 crore (L4)
  • URC Construction: Rs 895.74 crore (L5)
  • ITD Cementation India: Rs 959.86 crore (L6)
  • HCC - KEC International JV: Rs 1,075.72 crore (L7)
  • Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd: Disqualified.

The scope of work includes construction of five underground stations at Thapalpetti, Moolakadai, Sembiyam, Perambur Market and Perambur Metro and Crossover at Sembiyam and works other than diaphragm wall of two underground stations at Madhavaram Milk Colony and Murari Hospital in connection with Corridor 3 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2.

Now all bids have been sent for the final evaluation.

Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Private Limited or DRA Infracon is an infrastructure development and construction company based at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India while Soma Construction Private Limited is a New Delhi based construction firm.
