Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited has opened technical bids of all five major underground construction packages - UG01, UG02, UG03, UG04 & UG05 of Corridor 3 & Corridor 4 of Phase 2 respectively on 2nd & 3rd March 2023 in MetroS, Chennai. A total of eight firms have submitetd their bids to execute the construction of underground civil contract packeges.
The scope of work under contract package UG01/RT01 (Madhavaram to Perambur) covers design and construction of five underground stations at Thapalpetti, Moolakadai, Sembiyam, Perambur Market and Perambur Metro and Crossover at Sembiyam and works other than diaphragm wall of two underground stations at Madhavaram Milk Colony and Murari of Corridor 3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony - SIPCOT) of Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project. Following firms have submitted their bids for this contract package:-
The scope of work under contract package UG02/RT01 (Otteri-Kellys) covers design and construction of four underground metro stations at Otteri, Pattalam, Perambur Barracks Road and Kellys and works other than Diaphragm Wall of Two Underground Stations at Ayanavaram Puraisaiwakkam Station cum Crossover Box of Corridor 3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony - SIPCOT) of Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project. The scope of work under contract package UG02/RT01 (KMC to Royapettah) covers design and construction of five underground stations at KMC, Sterling Road Junction, Nangambakkam, Gemini, Thousand Lights and Thousand Lights Crossover and works other than diaphragm wall of two underground stations at Royapettah Govt. Hospital & Chetpet Metro of Corridor 3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony - SIPCOT) of Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project. Following firms have submitted their bids for this contract package:-
The scope of work under contract package UG04/RT01 (Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai-Adyar Junction) covers design and construction of four underground metro stations at Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Thirumayilai , Mandaiveli and Adyar Junction and Two Cross Passage Shafts and One Emergency Escape Shaft and works other than Diaphragm wall of One Underground Station at Greenway in Corridor 4 (Light House – Poonamallee Bus Depot) of Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project. The scope of work under contract package UG05/RT01 (Adyar Depot – Taramani Link Road Ramp) covers design and construction of three underground stations at Adyar Depot, Indira Nagar and Taramani Road Jn and Ramp and works other than diaphragm wall of underground station station Thiruvanmiyur Metro of Corridor 3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony - SIPCOT) of Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project. Now all bids have been sent for technical evaluations by tender commitee.
The corridor 3 of Chennai Metro Phase 2 will be 45.813 km (19.09 km elevated & 26.72 km underground) long and it will connect Madhavaram Milk Colony to SIPCOT with 49 metro stations (a mix of elevated and underground).
The corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Phase 2 will be 26.09 km (16.02 km elevated & 10.07 km underground) long and will connect Light House to Poonamallee Bus Depot with 28 metro stations (a mix of elevated and underground).
