Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) has conducted metro train train trial run on 3 km underground stretch of 17.4 km long Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) - Swargate Metro Corridor of Pune Metro Rail Project on 6th December 2022.
The metro train trial run was conducted started at 3.20 PM of 6th December 2022 from Range Hill Car Depot to Range Hill elevated metro station, and then from Range Hill elevated metro Station to Shivajinagar Metro Station and then to Civil Court Interchange Metro Station. This test run was important from a technical point of view. For the trial run, officials from all departments including tracks, electricity, signalling, maintenance and operations were continuously working since last week. The trial run lasted 30 minutes and completed as per plan.
“Today’s underground Metro trial run was technically very challenging and complex. Employees of Pune Metro were working round the clock for it. I congratulate them all. In the next few months, the Phugewadi to Civil Court and Garware to Civil Court routes will be completed and opened for passengers,” said Dr. Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maha Metro.
According to Pune Metro officials, 85% work on Pune Metro has been completed while remaining 15% work is going on in full swing.
Out of 17.4 km, 6 km route from Shivajinagar to Swargate is underground. The tunnel work of this underground route was completed on 4th June 2022 with the help of the tunnel boring machine (TBM).
The 17.4 km long metro corridor 1 will connect PCMC to Swargate with 14 stations at Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Sant Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi, Fugewadi, Dapodi, Bopodi, Khadki, Range Hill, Shivajinagar, ASI, PMC, Budhwar Peth, Mandai and Swargate.
