Four firms bid for preparing detailed project report for Madurai Metro Rail project

Madurai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has recently opened technical bids for DPR contract package of Madurai Metro Rail Project.

As per the information shared, a total of four consultancy firms have submitted their bids for preparation of detailed project report (DPR) of proposed Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in Madurai, Tamilnadu. The names of bidders are as under:-

  • RITES Ltd.
  • Balaji Railroad Systems Pvt. Ltd.
  • Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  • SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Pvt. Ltd.

Tender notice for the selection of Consultant for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Mass Rapid Transit System in Madurai was issued in February 2023 with an estimated cost of work of Rs 3 lakh and 75 days work completion deadline.

The Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) of the project was prepared by Balaji Railroad Systems Limited (BARSYL) in November 2022 recommending 31 kilometres metro rail systems in Madaurai. The proposed metro rail system will start from Thirumangalam and end with Othakadai. A total of 20 metro stations have been propsed by the BARSYL and a train maintenance depot on a 45 acre site at Thirumangalam.

An elevated track is planned between Othakadi and Goripalayam, and from Goripalayam to Vasantha Nagar, an underground line is planned. Another elevated line is planned between Vasantha Nagar to Thirumangalam.
